Babe in the Woods

Doutzen Kroes...
In a Psychedelic Woods...
In a Fur Coat...
And Giant Bow...
With a Bear...

I can't believe my editorial eyes!

Oddly I have never stumbled upon this editorial before, but W Magazine just posted a picture of it from their archive and I just had to go and find the other pics.

Those colours!
I am literally in love with it.

Wintery Wednesday

Furs, hats, and woolies still firm wardrobe staples...
IN APRIL.

Sigh.

See that girl sporting a delicious yellow shearling coat in the first pic and Balenciaga Boots in the third? That is Elena Perminova. Her style KILLS ME.

DEAD.

Metallics: The Essence is Iridescence

Up until quite recently one of my friends still bore the brunt of jokes about her dedication to wearing iridescent clothing (pretty much exclusively) between the ages of 15 and 17. I have recently stopped joking about it, called her up, and asked her to root out some of such items. Metallics is obviously a huge trend for 2013, but within this lies the micro trend, otherwise known as my new obsession...IRIDESCENT.

It cropped its shiny head up a couple of times in 2012, Louis V dabbled, while Blumarine went whole hog in their Cara Delevingne campaign.  Recently the trend has really gotten in to the zeitgeist with Stella McCartney’s swoonful holographic clutch selling out, and a waiting list for Miista iridescent brogues.

A little metallic inspo...

Although the iridescent trend is being tagged as ‘futuristic’, due to the gas memories I have of it, to me it is uber 90’s in a Shampoo kinda way. Remember them?!

Pics above from Burberry, Balmain, Vogue and le Catch. See that mint leather, lazer cut jacket above? That’s from Irish Designer Danielle Romeril’s previous collection. Seriously, I could wish for nothing more in a garment. A seriously talented gal, check out her new stuff here.

Kenzoh!

Tumblr nearly crashed when a few people were spotted wearing THAT cult classic Kenzo sweatshirt during fashion week. Kenzo have followed this lead to create a stunningly wearable and youthful collection for AW 2013-2014. Kenzo have managed to strike that commercially gold spot that lies somewhere between the catwalk and the sidewalk. The collection showed staples that hit all the street style trends over the last year, gold, brocade, patterned suits, coloured fur, but delivered them back to us in a high-end package, playing with shapes from cocoon to kimono and adding texture with crocodile fabrics, faux fur and metallic sheens. And the shoes…PERFECT.

I look forward to the following items hanging in my wardrobe:

Creepy Couture at Gareth Pugh A/W 2013-2014

I was hoping for another hit of gothic romanticism post Giles in London, and Gareth Pugh’s Paris ‘ready to wear’ collection has come up with the goods! I quote ‘ready to wear’ as it’s not exactly ready to wear to the supermarket to get milk, but perhaps to a high fashion friend's birthday party?!

Like Giles, Pugh’s collection mixes a little ethereal with gothic drama. Oversized silhouettes, nipped in waists, and shredded black bag style fabrics made up this theatrical collection with overgrown branches creeping up from hems to add a touch of eeriness.

(Is Topiary tree the new silouette?!)

Deathly faced make-up was painted on by Alex Box and the show was styled by Katie Shillingford.
