Up until quite recently one of my friends
still bore the brunt of jokes about her dedication to wearing iridescent
clothing (pretty much exclusively) between the ages of 15 and 17. I have
recently stopped joking about it, called her up, and asked her to root out some
of such items. Metallics is obviously a huge trend for 2013, but within this
lies the micro trend, otherwise known as my new obsession...IRIDESCENT.
It cropped its shiny head up a couple of
times in 2012, Louis V dabbled, while Blumarine went whole hog in their Cara Delevingne
campaign.
Recently the trend has really gotten in to the zeitgeist with Stella
McCartney’s swoonful holographic clutch selling out, and a waiting list for
Miista iridescent brogues.
A little metallic inspo...
Although the iridescent trend is being tagged as
‘futuristic’, due to the gas
memories I have of it, to me it is uber 90’s in a Shampoo kinda
way. Remember them?!
